Micro Principalities & Home Grown Passports
We are aware of many groups, often marketed through the web which are purporting to offer a "second passport" to unsuspecting individuals. Some have a certain and very limited degree of legitimacy, although the reality is most have none. The WSA "World Service Authority" Passport is one example. USA Customs as well as other government authorities have openly stated that the WSA passport will not be accepted as a travel document. It can be construed as an identity document, however, it is not officially recognized as a valid passport. Records indicate obscure past entries or exits with this type of passport. It's a big gamble at the minimum. Perhaps the customs agent was sleeping on the job, we really don't know all the circumstances. What we do know is that using one of these so-called second passports can land you in big trouble - questioning or jail in a foreign country faster than you might expect. At the minimum you are looking at a nasty delay in your travel plans. Just remember that these passports are a novelty. Some issuers are actually candid enough to disclose that.
We are frequently receiving inquiries asking if you can use one of these "passports" to do banking. The answer is no. No bank in Panama would even consider it. Our affiliates have told us the same holds in other jurisdictions. We are not aware of any respectable bank where you would want to consider placing your money which would accept this as a form of I.D. for the purpose of opening an account. It is true on the other hand that some private investment companies will accept this type of passport. Considering that it is not a secure and validated type of I.D. we would caution doing business with anyone that would even accept such a passport as a means of doing financial business with them. You have been warned.
Camouflage Passports
These are passports which in the best case scenario have never been issued and will have your designated info. Otherwise they have just been "edited" to suit your needs or otherwise have someone else's identity which may perhaps resemble your own. Either way, these passports are not valid for anything. They are valuable for nothing more than a novelty. They were at one time issued by a government or country which is no longer legally exists. As such, they will not be accepted for banking purposes, so don't consider wasting time or money on these passports. And, certainly don't attempt to use one for travel. Even carrying one around as some places suggest is risky business. If you were searched and this passport was produced, how would you explain it to a country's customs or national security at a checkpoint of entry while you are traveling?
National Passports
Many countries around the world, including Panama, are offering second passports. Usually this comes in the form of economic citizenship. There are however many ways to accomplish this. Most are useful for offshore banking. Some allow visa free travel to a wide list of other countries. Some don't. Panama has a very desirable passport not only because you can do banking with it. You can also do a legal name change for further privacy purposes. Additionally, Panama has visa free travel to most of the world. In any case, when considering a second passport, give consideration to the host nation you are seeking it from. What kind of government stability do they have? How will this passport be respected if you use it for travel? How does it fit you and your needs?
