This program provides residency and a Panama passport under the main requirement that you place a 5 year "CD" certificate of deposit with either of Panama's National Banks. This "CD" must produce a minimum of $850/month in interest. Keep in mind that National Banks usually do not pay the very highest rate on certificates of deposit. Right now you would be looking at a CD of about $350,000. As the interest rates change, so does the amount required to invest in this program. The deposit must remain constant and can not be withdrawn otherwise the result would be a cancellation of the Visa. The money also can not be tied up as a guarantee or loan. After the end of the 5 year term you can renew the Visa and Passport under the same terms.

For a person who is economically solvent to afford this program and wants to have a second passport for banking, business purposes or even travel reasons, this is one of the best programs out there. There are other ways to obtain a Panama passport, however most require a large investment which is not as liquid as this program and all other programs do take several years at the minimum. This is called "instant" because it is a fast track program and you can receive a Panama passport in very short time.
