The "Pensionado Visa" aka Retiree Visa is an excellent option for residency in Panama. Regardless of the name itself, you do not particularly have to be any particular age to qualify for this visa, just an adult over the age of 18. This is a permanent residency. The most important factor to qualify is to meet the life time monthly income requirement of $1,000/month. This requirement is reduced to only $750/month if you invest a minimum of $100,000 in Panama real estate. Income is usually proven by documentation from a private source or government indicating that you will continue to receive payments meeting the minimum requirement.

Sources of private income would include a trust fund, mutual fund, insurance company, bank or a pension administrator.

Married couples can qualify jointly if they have a combined receipt of $1,000/monthly.

Dependents can be added by showing an additional $250/month of income per dependent. There are a number of other certain stipulations which apply for dependents.
